Question:

How do I get my mom to buy healthy foods?

My mom always buys c**p and I tell her to stop, but she doesn't! It's so annoying! She's finally stopped buying Cheez Its, but she still gets prepackaged foods, stuff with trans fats, and other c**p. It really pisses me off because she complains that my brother is fat, but she's the one buying the food! Sometimes, she'll make lunch that's prepackaged, and I won't eat it, and she gets mad. What should I do?

This is all the c**p in my house:

-Bagel Bites

-Elio's Pizza

-Frozen Chicken fingers

-Brownie Mix (she gets this like once a week!)

-Ice Cream

-Pop Tarts

And the list goes on and on. I know that these foods are cheaper, but what are good healthy foods that aren't too expensive?

  1. id say buy your own food but if you cant afford to buy your own food sit down and talk with your mum and tell her all the bad points about it, you should show her a few programmes on the telivision about foods like yours, get your brother to agree to healthier foods and anyone else in your house hold that way she will feel more pressured and will get you closer to getting healthy foods. if no one else agrees to the healthy food, stop eating and say to your mum your refusing to eat until she buys decent food, thats what i done. it worked for about a week. so now i just eat when i have money of my own.

  2. You need to have an honest conversation with her about your concern for your family's health.  Go shopping with her to help show her healthy alternatives to her normal purchases.  Many people buy unhealthy food because it's cheaper, so if that's a problem...work out an arrangement with her.  Give up some allowance to help with the grocery bill, or agree to do some extra chores in exchange for healthier foods.

  3. my dad always buys all that too! you could buy your own food if you work or get payed.you could just sneak the food into the cart and she hopefully wont see it.and what about your dad, you could ask your dad too.i hope my answer helped!

  4. Check out this site:

    www.hungrygirl.com

It gives all sorts of ideas for foods; prepackaged, recipes with healthy alternative ingredients, you name it.

Sign your mom up for the newsletter they send out from that site so she'll hopefully start to get educated and realize eating healthy isn't always harder, or more expensive.

  5. Tell her truthfully:

You are buying to much junkfood, which is making brother fat. Soon the whole family will be fat if you don't stop. I am only going to eat healthy food from today.

  6. go shopping with her and pick out what you want.
