How do I get my mother to let me dress how I want?

I'm not a bad kid. I stay out of trouble, I do my chores, and I'm usually very responsible.

I recently discovered a certain style of clothes, and I love how the clothes looks. I love the style, and I started dressing like that every day.

But my mother constantly berates me for it. "Get those off your hands."

"Why?"

"Because I said so. Take them off."

My wristbands, eyeliner, bandanas, black clothes, even some of the shoes that I had paid for went through the trash. I was furious, and promptly went to the mall and built my wardrobe back up.

How do I make her see that just because I dress a certain way, doesn't make me a thief, druggie, or other social miscreant?

PS- I'm almost fourteen.

i know exactly what you mean, my mom always makes me change what im wearing and it makes me sooo angry, she still doesnt let me wear tanktops out of the house......just ask her why and hide your eyeliner ect. so she cant find it and if she throws it out tell her that you paid for it and that she cant just throw out what is your......good luck, i know parents are cruel

u sound like u have a good head on ur shoulders n if she dnt let u dress  this way now ur eventually goin to later n rebel.
