How do I get my new gerbil to love me?

Hey!

I just got a gerbils yesterday! She is grey and her name is Muffin! But, is she turns out to be a boy, then her name is Ollie! :-]

I was just wondering, how I can I make her love me more?

great to no u have 1 there very kl to get it to love u wont be very easy they have to be tamed u can bribe it with sunflower seeds that works alot of people say or just put ur hand in the cage every day and let them climb and wonder around it then after about a week just get it in the palm of hand and carry it be gentle and carefull as they may jump

You have to stroke him and take him out as often as possible and be nice to him and talk nice to him (don't be too loud!). And feed him some yummy stuff with your hand so that he smells you and knows that you are nice

Congratulations! All you need to do is play with and pet you new friend every day. She will get more and more use to you, and eventually she will always remember your scent and be very comfortable, aslong as you are gental and kind. Hope this helps!=)

Give her a little time to settle in. If she's skittish, it's normal. Start by earning her trust. Give her yummy treats when she comes up to your hand. Put your hand out flat on the bottom of her cage and put some food in there. Encourage her to eat from your hand. Just spend time handling her, but don't force her to stay on your hand if she wants to jump off. Don't chase her around the cage to try and pick her up. Just corner her and scoop her. Also, don't ever hold her by her tail. It just takes time and patience for them to trust you.

There are lots of taming methods out there. One of my favorites is laying a towel down in a dry bath tub, sitting in there, and letting the gerbil run around. It got my gerbils more used to me, and it was open enough so that I could handle them easily. They would crawl all over me. Good luck with your new gerbil :] They're wonderful pets.

They won't actually "love" you, but you can tame them to trust you and not be afraid of you. Just play with it everyday untill it gets to know you and trust you! Then your gerbil will "love" you!
