How do I get my parents...?

Ok I want a rat!! :D I used to have one but he was really old and he died. I decided before I get my puppy I would like a rat. How can I convince my parents to let me get one?

But if they are typical just show them that you are responsible.

Well how did you get them to let you have your first one?  Or you could buy a binder and journals and get some books about rats & you could get, write, & keep a whole lot of information about rats in the binder & show it to your parents.  And then you could also prove that you are responsible.

Ask for something that you know they would say no too. Then ask for the rat. If you ask for something way out of hand, and then ask for something not so out of hand, there is a bigger chance of them saying yes.

if you had one before and it died and it wasnt your fault then tell your parents how much you loved it and took care of it and that you really want another little mate. DONT GET A PUPPY!!! they are to much work. get 2 rats a big cage and lots of love. they need all the attention they can get. you dont need a puppy to.

Puppies require a lot of attention and constant care.

Focus on your puppy for a year before going and getting

another pet.

If you used to have one and it died of old age then your parents are obviously okay with the species...so I'd have to recommend you try to demonstrate responsibility. You could offer to pay for the majority of the rat and it's supplies by doing extra chores around the house (if you're paid for them..) or using your own allowance to pay for it. You'll also probably need to demonstrate that you've thought it through, that you really want a rat for it's full 2-3 year life span. You could draw up a budget for how much money it'll cost each month for the next 2 years and pencil in a time you can spend with the rat every day. You should also make considerations as to who would look after the rat when you're on vacation.

You want to get a rat before a puppy? That takes a lot of responsibility and that means you have to clean everything like the cage etc, plus your parents can't do it for you. Well if you need help, well then they can help. However, it's going to be tough.

i think wait until after youve got youre puppy then wait two or three months then ask otherwise your parents will just get narky in a parentish sort of way

i use this tactict and i have a puppy two cats two mice and a hamster

btw rodents particularly rats really smell so please think before you buy one

i think you shold just get the puppy but if you reallywant the rat try cleaning the house and making breakfast lunch or dinner and show them you really are responsible

Well rats don't normally live very long so don't talk about the death and dying stuff talk to your rents about how you will take care of it and how you enjoy having a rat and if ur rents do talk to you that it doesn't live long just exceot it and continue talking about how you love rats and take care of them you always can do the greving after!
