How do I get my printer Scanner to work again?

because whenever i press the scan mode button, it says downloading application list....

then a minute later it says cannot retreve application list...

is there a way to fix this?

and also my printer is a lexmark 3500-4500 series.

if you could help then that would be great :)

I would uninstall and reinstsall the printer.

I have experienced these problems before
