Question:

How do I get my tennis strokes back to what they were?

At the beginning of the summer, I played about 6 hours a day. Then I had to take a month off and I played for the first time since then today. My strokes are a LOT worse than they were and I didn't have much fun (because I'm used to being better.) I am/was a 4.5 player (girl) and I really want to get my level back to where I was a month ago. Should I take a lot of lessons or hit a lot or what? I don't want to get discouraged by hitting a lot and sucking. Thanks!

  1. well first of all your not going to back in form over night.  i suggest starting again from your basic strokes and i don't know if this goes the same for you, but most people want to hit hard obviously to try and show how good they are.  reducing how much power you put into your strokes help a lot more than people think, i speak from experience.  this factor could help you too.

  2. If you are having problems remembering your hitting technique, then you should take lessons to refresh your memory.  But chances are that you're just rusty, and all you really need to do is hit a lot more, everyday if possible, preferably with someone who is generally the same level as you are (or were when you were playing more).  I have the same trouble whenever I don't play for long periods of time, and it usually tkes me about a week of playing consistently to get back my hitting rhythm.

  3. get back in to your old habbits!

  4. Start playing 6 hours a day again.

  5. everyone has a bad day... thats what my coach told me when i started sucking for a while... dont worry it all comes back to u eventually just parctice
