i adopted a kitten not to long ago (Turtle) she is about 5 months now and I will be starting my college corses at the end of this month, we were up at petco today and Catlink had more adoptable kittens up there and I fell in love with this one that I braught home, shes about 2 months old (Gizmo) but they dont seem to get along..Gizmo has only hissed back once but Turtle has a none stop hissing/growling fit every time gizmo is anywhere near her..Turtles chased her once or twice and has taken to following her around the house hissing and growling but not taking any other action..for the difference between the two in age, Turtle is twice the size of Gizmo but Turtles declawed and Gizmo still has her claws..I dont know what to do to make them get along better or to please Turtle..Gizmo seems just content apart from being a bit timid..

  1. WTF?? dont declaw them , if the behaviour is bad now it will only get alot worse !

de clawing takes away a cats methode of defence and then they take to biting never mind the fact its terribly painful and cruel !!!

*edit* YOUR CATS ??  YEAH WELL YOUR AN IGNORANT CRUEL WOMAN AND I HOPE YOUR CATS GET TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU AND YOUR TORTURE . h**l IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT PEOPLE ALOT OLDER AND WISER THAN YOU HAVE FOUND OUT ITS AN EVIL THING TO DO , STUPID US ; YOU KNOW BETTER . THE WAY YOU TALK ABUT YOUR PETS SAYS EVERTHEY THING ABOUT YOU . THEY ARE ANIMALS IN THERE OWN RIGHT AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DECAPITATE THEM.

  2. Firstly, Cats are not dogs! You DON'T get them de-clawed EVER, they use them as self defence how would you like it if someone cut your nails off. I know I wouldn't like it.

Secondly, cats aren't pack animals like dogs! They like to be alone. ;)

  3. Eventually they will get use to each other but it will take some time.Don't worry if they get to fighting a little bit they're just being territorial. That's just them acting on instinct.

  4. The mistake u made is,I think u just liked Gizmo better. So,Turtle hates Gizmo because u like Gizmo better than turtle. So,wat u must do is stop treating Gizmo like a queen and like both of them the same.

  5. Cats are very territorial.  Think how Turtle felt when this strange kitten was plunked down into HER territory.  Now she has to share everything that was, until recently, hers alone, including you!  She had no say in this matter and so she has a right to be in a snit about this.  Don't break up any fights they may have.  They will eventually work it out.  They may or may not ever like each other.  Please do have them both spayed.

  6. The cats will get alone eventually, it will just take time.  Normally I would say let them fight it out between them but as one has claws and the other doesnt, I would supervise them at this time.

We have just got a new kitten and our older cat has taken quite a while to get used to it, they still fight all the time but they dont seem to be hurting each other.

Give it a little more time, maybe swap Turtles bed/blanket/sleeping place for Gizmo's let t hem get used to each others smells, also you must pay Tutle more attention at the moment, let him know that you havent replaced him with Gizmo.

Cats will always get along after time, whatever the s*x of them, but it will need your patience and perserverence.

    Good luck
