Question:

How do I get my volume to work on my new Comcast HD Box

I bought a new HDTV a few months ago and continued to use my regular box for a while. The Comcast remote would not control the actual TV volume but could adjust the volume through the cable box.

Last week I finally upgraded to an HD Box. While the volume controls still appear on the TV when I click up or down on the volume, it doesn't actually change the volume. Whether I have the cable box volume all the way up or all the way down, it is still the same volume coming out of the speakers. I have tried all of the universal unlock options given by comcast and still nothing.

Has anyone had a similar problem or know of a fix to this?

  1. The cable box itself has various settings.  Press the menu button on the cable remote and look at either/both volume and audio set up.  Maybe stereo set up as well.  Play with those and you should be set.
