Question:

How do I get my wireless router to work??

I bought a new wireless router to hook up to my DSL modem..

I've done everything right step by step using a setup wizard by t-mobile. Every cord is hooked up as it should.

I've done changes on router configuration using linksys just like instructed..

But as soon as it gets to the point where it wants to detect my network settings, it tells me that there is no internet connection.

I've noticed that as soon as I hook up my modem to the router.. all internet connection fails. Why is that??

Its soo frustrating. I can't get it to work.

Can anyone please help??

  1. With cable you can setup in the router and immediately start receiving a connection. With DSL, you will first need to set up the DSL account on your computer. That usually involves installing the stupid setup CD to get things rolling. Once the DSL if setup on your computer, you can then hook up your router config the settings and start surfing. No special router is needed. Good luck.

  2. Is this a phone line connection? If so where do T-Mobile come into it? If it is a dsl connection to the line you need to install a dsl router in place of the existing modem. Not a generic router.

  3. You need to configure your wireless router to set an LAN ip address for that router and then change the access point to connect it to your DSL modem.

  4. Hello there,

I guess you are having trouble hooking up to internet only when the router is connected.

    1. Are you trying to connect wireless or wired ?

    2. What changes have you made on the router page ?

    3. Are you using a Wireless b/g card or b/g/n ?

    4. Are you using a Wireless router b/g or b/g/n?

    Cheers,
