How do I get out of a car lease?

It is a 48 month lease and I have 30 months remaining on the lease. I want a different car what can I do?

  2. You can't - not without penalties.  Some penalties are ridiculous (like paying for the rest of the 48 month NOW and STILL return the car).

    LEASE is just a long term rent.  You don't own the car.  Actually it is worse because you CONTRACTED yourself to the 48 months.  That is a contract.  If you think about it, it is only fair.  The lease company basically BOUGHT A NEW car BASED ON your agreement (so they that they can make money).

    That is why you should BUY if you think you might change your mind.

Believe it or not, leases are tailored for people like you, although you want out too soon.  Normally a short term lease is best, so in case you don't like the car, you'd just have to wait a little to be at zero again.  Now, if you had bought this car, and wanted to get out, you would be so upside down, that it may be impossible to get out.

    There is a way that might work, it works for some but not others, depending on the structure of their lease.  go to http://www.swapalease.com and see if someone will assume your lease.
