My coach says I can do it by self, and I've done it by myself about 4 times. Im afraid to completely do it by myself though. Ive had my flipflop for like 5 years but now my roundofff flipflop back is perfect. Im just afraid to do it without spot. Like my coach litteratly just touches my back and then steps to the side.

  1. By doing it.  That's the only way.  You have to confront your fears.

  2. my gymnastics team has a theme "NO Fear". fear only holds you back. with fear u will never accomplish anything. i had a lot of fear when i tried doing a backhandspring on the beam. but once you let go of that its a lot easier than u think. thats why gymnastics is one of the hardest sports out there..its not only physically challenging but mentally as well. good luck

  3. You have to want it more than you fear it. Get mad at it. Tell it you own it; it doesn't own you.

  4. Three suggestions....one, visualize (it helps more than you know.  Picutre yourself going through the motions with no one there, and having it go perfectly.  Two, have you coach still stand there but don't touch you.  As long as you feel that touch on your back you'll keep that fear of doing by yourself.  Have the coach stop touching you, and then slowly back away from you when you do it each time.  Third, decide you can do it!  I had a terrible block on this same thing, and just one decided one day that I was done being scared when I knew I could do it.
