How do I get over my fear of flying?

Hey!! I'm about to go on a plane ride that's about three hours. I'm going on the plane by myself, which i have never done before. I always get really nervous on planes even when my family is with me. I don't actually have a phobia I just get really nervous. What can I do?

  1. Instead of drugs, try affirmations.  Three times per day before your trip, say "I love to fly and I feel good on the airplane"  Its even better if you can do this into the mirror.  It will really help change your feelings.


  2. A safer alternative to some other drugs/alcohol is Benadryl - for most people it will make them sleepy - it is just a allergy med.  It makes the time go faster if you sleep, so it also might help to not get too much sleep before you fly - unless you are the pilot ;o).

    Take something to read or a game book like sudoku,  take music that will entertain you or  portable dvd player.  

    Slow deep breathes.  Try to get the kind of seat that relaxes you, for me it is the window seat.  There are lotions that claim to have a calming effect - like homepathics meds - but I rub Vicks Vaborub under my nose - it helps me concentrate on my breathing.
