Hey, there. I'm a 15 year old girl, and I'm terrified of needles. Now, I won't go running down the road if I see one--but I hate having shots, etc. Therefore, when the doctor offers either the pills or a shot--I go for the pills. It's just I can't imagine having something poked inside me--it freaks me out. On TV, if I'm watching a show, where someone is having a needle put in, my mind automatically imagines that needle being placed in ME. I had my tonsils taken out last November, and I had to have my blood drawn right before the surgery, literally. I didn't eat anything, and when they poked me, I jerked back..and when they drew the blood, I started sweating and breathing heavily. Then I had to have my I.V., and I didn't figure it to be that bad, because I had one a couple of years before--and it hadn't hurt at all. But they kept missing my vein--it took five times! I really need to get over this fear, especially for when I get older and become an ob/gyn. Thanks for the help.
