How do I get over the fear of inserting contacts?

I really want contacts, my mom & my brother have them. They say contacts are 100% better then glasses. This makes me envius. I went to the eye doctor to get them & he had to pull my eye lid back & I pushed his hand away, then we left. I always had the fear of putting things near my eye. I want to get over it.

If you have any tips I would very much appreciate it.

Make sure you are not looking directly at the contact when putting it in your eye. Look up or to the side. don't concentrate too much on it because you will over-analyze your fear and stress yourself out. I wore contacts for a long time and finally got Lasik, but it used to take me an hour to put them in when I first got them.

Time and practice will help! Trust me.

When I put my contacts in I just put the contact on my middle finger and just place it.  However, the way you say it, it sounded as if the eye doctor was trying to put your contacts in for you.  It would probably be better if you put them in for yourself with him watching, that way you can do it on your own time.

If you're really scared ...i think you should just get glasses...i think they are very sophisticated and there are many great styles and brands out there...and plus it will be something different!

I found the perfect way to insert contacts.Put it just below the erea(color part of eye)and slide it into place.Make sure you use eye drop first it will slide better.

practice sticking ur finger in ur eye (make sure to wash ur hands first!). ull get used to it after doing it a few times. i got contacts in february. it took me close to 30 minutes to get the first one in on my own but after that it was pretty easy.theres really nothing to worry about and its well worth it in the end!
