I am really depressed about school, I am a senior and I just can`t shake off this depression. I find out today that I did`nt pass some portions of the Texas TAKS test and you need to past that to graduate In addition you have to have 24 credits to graduate. I am fine with the credits but the TAKS Test is a pain. You have a multiple of chances to pass it but I just can`t get over it. I am worried about whether or not I would graduate or not. Most of my friends pass the TAKS exit level and it sucks that I did`nt. I just keep worrying about it and I want to really stop. I hate being depressed because I just think about the same thing, I am really depressed. This is my last year of High school and I just fear of not graduating any advise?

  1. Talk to your guidance counselor.  He/she will be able to advise you on different learning tools and may suggest free after school tutoring through your school.  And if you really feel you are depressed, talk to your parents...maybe you need to talk to someone professional.  Just keep your chin up, have perseverance, and make your first steps to your counselor and parents.  You're in your last year of high school!  You can do it!

I also want to add that if you're really feeling the blues, now is a good time in your life to seek help.  It is very freeing to have finally graduated, but life doesn't get easier after high school.  Sorry to be so straight-forward, but I don't want to sugar coat it.  I think you could benefit from talking to someone.  It might help you to realize that you ARE capable, and help you to feel more positive!  :)

One more thing!  Do NOT listen to the guy below that a GED is success....to me, a GED is giving up!  You WILL get your diploma!

  2. Go to Barnes and Noble maybe they will have a test sample booklet and some pointers on studying for it!

  3. It depends how much points the portions of the test you failed to answer correctly and the overall percentage of what you need to have as a passing grade...Your friends could have failed portions of the test as well but remember not to worry about anyone else but yourself and that obtaining a diploma or G.E.D in all aspects is a success and no matter what you need to do to gain either of these will not be criticized.
