Question:

How do I get paint off my tiled floor that also removes dirt?

My son's bedroom floor has very old paint and dirt from the previous owners. I need to get this stuff off ASAP b/c getting him a new floor is not in my budget.

We tried paint thinner and it's not working. I don't want to strip the tiles. I just need a real good cleaning solution that will do the trick until we can re-do the floor.

Thank you for reading.

  1. Try using mean green and SOS pads...Mean green works on everything, and the sos pads will loosen up the dirt and the paint!

If its small drips or spatters, you can scrape it up with a razor, we had to do that in our office after we painted!

If you cant get it up, they do make tile paint that you could use, i dont know how well it would work on the floor but its a great solution for those old blue and pink bathrooms, you can just paint over em! You may try it on your floor?!

    Good luck.

  2. It all depends on what type paint of paint it is. If its an oil based paint I would use a paint stripper. The stripper will only be a solvent to the paint and not the tile. Just apply a small amount to the paint and allow the paint stripper to dissolve the paint. If the paint is latex based, a rag and a dab of lacquer thinner will do the trick.
