  1. Oh comon... you're college student and turning 21 soon. PARTY! Bring LOTS OF ALCOHOL!!! Oh yeah, and bring some bomb *** munchies to go well with the booze. Don't want those weaklings throw up all over the party.

  2. say its a pot luck dinner and dessert on the invite so everyone should bring their favorite food, of a sample size, enough for 10-20+ to sample (if 50 ppl bring enough samples for 50 ppl ... 50 x 50 is way more than enough)

  3. I agree with those who said to just call it a pot luck and have some close friends bring some assigned stuff so you know you'll have at least some good dishes. But, please don't expect gifts too. When people throw a party they should be able to cover the expense of having a party. If you want a pot luck then say no presents on the invite so it doesn't make you look greedy.

    Happy 21st!

  4. Call it a potluck party - people know what that means.  Just let people know when you invite them, and ask them to let you know if they'd like to bring a salad, main course, dessert, or other.  Lots of people have "favorite" items they like to make for potlucks, but it's good to have an idea of what's coming otherwise you could end up with 5 people bringing chips and dip and no one bringing salad. Or you could end up with 20 desserts... not that that would be a bad thing! LOL.

Are you having a BBQ?  Tell people it's a "bring-your-own-meat" potluck.  Then you can make sure someone's bringing buns, someone's bringing beverages, etc.  Don't forget the ice!  It's always the worst when someone shows up with pop from the store, and it's warm, and no one thought to bring ice! Same goes for paper plates, cups, and cutlery.  Oh, and condiments if you're doing burgers or hot dogs, etc. Start making a list of everything you might need, and some people can bring that stuff instead of food (this is great for students who don't have time to cook - or don't know how!).

Don't feel bad about asking people to do this. It's very common and acceptable - no one would expect you to feed 50 people!  I hope you have a fabulous birthday - hooray for 21!

  5. MAKE IT A BBQ CONTEST. THEY CAN GET DISPOSABLE BBQ KITS AT THE STORE.

OF COURSE YOU WOULD BE THE JUDGE WITH 2 OTHER SELECT PEOPLE. THE CONTESTANTS MUST COOK 5 HAMBURGERS AND 10 HOT DOGS EACH.

    TEAMS CAN HAVE 3 PEOPLE.

YOU SUPPLY THE CHIPS AND CONDIMENTS.

    ENJOY

  6. I just put "bring a covered dish"  on the invitations trust me it won't sound wierd people do it all the time.

  7. Saying its a pot luck explains it all.

  8. First announce it as a POT LUCK party.......then get together with some of the people you know best and have the prepare specific things.  One and make some salad, another dessert, etc.  You can also say that in lieu of a gift to bring a dish.  But in any case you have to be up front with it cause I know you would hate to have 50 guests and 3 bags of Doritos. LOL LOL
