How do I get people to understand my meds are effecting my sleep?

I'm not ditching or anything. I just can't sleep!

So I never go to school anymore, and my teachers think I'm ditching.

I'm failing because of it, and because I don't have enough sleep to generate enough concentration to focus on my schoolwork.

I keep asking my biology teacher for help, and I've asked ALL YEAR, but now, because of her yelling at me and telling me that the class "isn't just a place where you can walk in, get your work, and never come back", I have to take Integrated 1-2 as a junior. LAME.

How do I get them to at least put me in Integrated 3-4 and understand that it's not my fault, and I'm trying?!

  1. get a doctor's note

  2. You need to speak to you doctor and get him/her to speak to your school, write letter or something. Speak to your head teacher/principal about this. Maybe get a parent to come with you as they can back you up.

I have M.E so I have difficulty with sleep patterns and Upper School was hard because I couldnt always make it into school and would have to collect work and leave which made me look stupid and some of the teachers didnt fully believe me. I spoke to head teacher and my form tutor with my mum and we sorted it out.

  3. baby,

Don't feel bad. I am glad you are seeking help. Go to the Dr. that has prescribed the medication as well as your guidance counselor. Let them know how your meds are affecting your sleep and academics. You may just need your meds adjusted or even another form of medication. There is nothing abnormal about it. Also research the medication you are taking. Above all talk to your parents. Let them know you desire to do better in school. Let them know that them know that the medication prescribed to you is causing you as much of a problem as helping you. Because you deserve to grow as a person mentally, physically and academically

  4. Go to a doctor and let the doctors examine you. Go back to school with a doctors note stating what you were talking about thus chumping the teachers off.

  5. Talk to your doctor about a sleeping aid.  You seem to need one to sleep.

Take the responsiblity for some things yourself:  Make sure you take whatever your doctor gives you.  Plan on getting into bed at a reasonable time.  Take a shower and drink a glass of milk.  Turn off the television and computer and snuggle in.

My grandson is on a lot of meds, and he needs one to help him sleep.  He's doing much better now.
