How do I get radio out of a 2000 VW Beetle?

Radio quit working and I want to get serial # off of it, but must take entire radio out.

  1. there are two slots one is on the left of the seek track button as the other is on the right of the tuning button. I believe you need 32nd craft designs or its named something like that.(Thats the name of the tools).They are farely cheap. You just put them in at the same time and they attach to the radio and you put that little piece out.


  2. There is a vertical slot on each side of the radio where it meets the dash.  Special tools that fit in those slots are required to release the springs that hold the radio in.  If you can find some metal pieces about the right width and length, you might be able to get away without buying the tools. Basically you push the tools in at the same time and you should feel a click of the springs releasing then you can pull the radio out.

  3. I had a VW Cabrio and when I changed stereo it required some special unlocking wrenches I got these at my local van shop
