How do I get reservation at a good time at babbo in nyc?

Ok, I got a gift card and want to take my girlfriend there at a decent time like fir or sat night ... not 10:30 pm. They only take reservations a month ahead of time. Lines open up at 10:00 but when you can they are always busy ... when you final get through (12:00 noon) they are booked up. It seems it's very easy to for them to take your money but to spend it at a decent time is a different story ... are there any secrets or services to getting an reservation?

Nope, just keep hitting redial. It is a highly coveted restaurant, and one of the toughest reservations in NYC.

You could show up at the restaurant when they open at 10am and try getting ahold of the reservationist.  I did this once and they had a 9pm opening.

I wouldn't get my heart set eating there only at a prime-time.  

I have been to Babbo a few times, and it's not that bad going at 10:30pm.  The restaurant is still packed and the staff is very attentive.  My dinner there took a good 2.5 hours, so you don't leave til late, which is the only downside.

Del Posto is also a Batali restaurant and has a very similar menu.  It is a little easier to get a rez there, so it's worth a shot.
