How do I get rid of Antivirus XP 2008 POP UPS?!?

When I first saw them I would just exit out the window. But last night it had completely taken over my computer. It was on my desktop screen and everything. So I called Microsoft and I thought it was completely gone BUT ITS NOT!! I am STILL seeing those stupid pop ups and I want to know how to get rid of them NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Cont-Alt-Del to get into Task Manager

Select Processes Tab

"End Process" of AV2008... that stops pop-up

Download and run AVG, Superantispyware ( Free...Google and install)

Malicious codec, not a virus as such, can cause loss of desktop, icons, restore points etc.

Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Run vundo

Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

Once your scans are complete and your machine is clean, uninstall some of the programs, I suggest that you keep Malwarebytes for manual scanning, Spyware Doctor for realtime monitoring and Spybot. The remainder can be removed to save drive space, but you may want to keep the installers for future use.
