  1. brush your teeth, floss, scope, make it a habit

  2. Has the dentist recommended anything?  If you haven't been to the dentist, and want to try to clear it up before they suggest something expensive (and they WILL), try what one of my former dentists suggested.  First floss your teeth.  Get a Water Pik.  Fill it up half with water, and half with Listerine (you can get the cheap store brand, just make sure it's the kind comparable to Listerine, not Scope or the other ones that don't kill germs. Wal Mart has a big one for about $3)  Use the Water Pik  all around your gums, letting it squirt under the gums. After it's empty, fill up the Water Pik with plain water and let it run through (into the sink) so the Listerine doesn't build up in it.  Brush your teeth after that.  You will want to brush your teeth last because the Listerine will leave your teeth blue or green or whatever color it is.  I recommend a sonic toothbrush.  If your gums have been bleeding and are swollen, you should notice a difference within a few days of doing this twice a day.  Keep it up and it won't come back.  It works.
