How do I get rid of Microsoft 2007 office?

My HP Pavilion computer came with the trial version installed. I now have Microsoft 2002 Office Suite loaded and do not want to purchase the upgrade. I keep receiving fixes for the 2007 Office product. The normal method of removing software does not work.
