How do I get rid of a ferret?

I recently moved into a new house, and had been hearing noises of an animal in the walls. This morning, while looking for a shirt to wear to work, I found a ferret nesting in a pile of my clothes. What should I do? I'm assuming that it was a pet of the people who used to live here. It really freaked me out and I left, so I don't know where it is in my house now. What should I do?

  1. call a animal control they will vaccinate the ferret that belong to the previous owner and the will probably give it to a shelter were someone will adopt it or bring it to a vet and get it update to it's shots and sell it for some cash and check to see if it is a ferret or keep it as a pet  ad if it was a ferret it would probably be dead because it may not have food or water and dont listen to ginny_trevena's review because it's dumb and stupid

  2. thats pretty funny!

    okay sorry.

call a person who specializes in getting rid of rodents.

  3. cook it  =)

  4. Call an animal control person from your phone book.  They will set out a live trap with a can of cat food in it, and they ferret will be trapped within a day or so.  The animal control person will take it and either kill it, or, more likely, sell it to a pet store.  You can tell them it's your ferret so you can take it to a pet store or advertise it on craigslist so you are sure they won't kill it.

  5. This does not sound like a ferret as ferrets do not nest and are friendly, you do not need to be frightened by this animal, however it does sound more like a possum or could even be a large rat or someother type of marsupial type of animal, it is best to reexamine the situation again to make sure this is not a ferret you maybe able to trap the animal and give it to someone for a pet or try to contact the previous owners of the house first for information as to ownership of animal, in the situation of it not being a ferret contact pest or animal control for removal of animal Good Luck !

  6. the poor little fella is probly just looking for somwere warm to sleep but if he bothers u that much Call Animal Control

  9. well if you are 100% sure it is a ferret and you feel safe to do so pick it up put it into a cage and take to an animal shelter. Or call some one who removes critter's and have them get it for you.

  10. call animal control DUH

  11. wow, that is so uncool that someone left a pet ferret behind like that...how unsettling for you to find the creepy little thing in your clothes!!

Call a local pet store and see what they suggest. Maybe they can find it a good home, or suggest who you can call.

You could call SPCA probably, and they might help too.

Hope this helps...never heard of a ferret problem...just don't get bit! Who knows why they left the thing behind...

  12. are you sure it wasn't a possum? they are more indigineous than ferret's.

  13. If you live in the UK send it to Yorkshire (that is a bit of a British joke).  They love ferrets there.  People do sometimes keep them as pets.  If you think it belongs to the previous owners can you contact them?  They may actually be missing their pet.
