  1. Yes do what Hadji said... however

WARNING: When using this trap it attracts all the males to the trap via female pheromone. Before the male greets the female he goes to a nearby shrub and nibbles a little bit off of it in order to use it as an offering to the female.

So unless you want your neighbors complaining about their trees dying and having your own plants die... don't get it. Instead use a tiki torch. Produces smoke... which june bugs just hate. Either that or some kind of bug repellent such as Off!

  2. The hanging traps do woek very well.  The trick is to hang them at least 12' away from any plant that they might chew on before entering the trap.  They have just devistated my roses this year.  I've sprayed with different insect sprays and it didn't slow them up one bit.

The best defense is to kill them in the stages before they become beetles.  They live in soil eating the grass roots.

"Imidacloprid (Merit) is not fast acting, so use as a preventative control, not as a rescue treatment. Apply imidacloprid between May 15 and August 30. Halofenzide an IGR (insect growth regulator) (Mach2, GrubEX) is not fast acting, but only use in June to August to control grubs. For adults, use pyrethroid  insecticides such as bifenthrin.

Bear in mind, though, even if you treat your yard, if your neighbors don't you will still have them.  Hopefully just not as badly!

  3. They'll be gone soon anyway.  I always thought they were kinda cute.

  4. Go to walmart or home depot and buy a Japanese bettle trap. It is a little bag that you hang. It works very good.

  5. they don't go away until about October, down here in Texas... i hear they have light bulbs that make them vulnerable and scared to come near the light...
