How do I get rid of centipedes in my house?

Question

I moved into my house a month and a half ago and have seen and killed 6 of them....so how many am I not seeing??!! They are so gross and fast and awful! Any suggestions?

Please do not tell my to call an exterminator, that's to extreme for this situation. Thanks!

I don't know where you live but in Illinois we have hedge balls also called by many other names hedge apples,etc.  These are a natural insect repellent, they can be placed throughout the house and they work.

The site will offer you more information. This and other sites offer them for purchase. In Illinois we just pick them up where they grow wild on trees.

Spread some chlordane or tobacco dust from a garden store at the door sills and windows outside to discourage them from entering. Otherwise a good interior household spray should help with those already inside.
