Yesterday was the first time I noticed fleas in my house and we have no pets. Throughout the whole day we saw a total of 8 fleas. I read that Borax gets rid of fleas so I put it on my carpets all over the house. How long do I need to leave it on? I have an 11 month old and I really don't like her crawling on the floor with the borax on there.

  1. get a monkey, preferably a chimpanzee they eat over 50 flees a day that way you can have a cool pet and you don't have to feed it, or get rid of the flees. kill tres birds with uno stone

  2. Get some white bowls....styrofoam will work.  Fill with water and a little dish soap.  Fleas are attracted to white.  They will hop in and drown.  Put one or two in each room of the house including hallways.  This really does work.

  3. Don't use borax around food, keep it out of reach of children and pets, and make sure you rinse borax out of clothes and off of surfaces before use.

you need to read the labels of products before you use them !

Leave the Borax on rugs and patio for at least 3 hours. You are better off doing it more often than leaving it on a long time. Do under the furniture, under cushions, INSIDE the bottom of the couch, chairs, if you can get there.

KEEP YOUR KID AWAY FROM THE BORAX.

  4. Burn it down

  5. Combating a flea infestation in the home takes patience as for every flea found on an animal there are many more developing in the home. A spot-on insecticide, such as Advantage, Frontline or Revolution will kill the fleas on the pet and in turn the pet itself will be a roving flea trap and mop up newly hatched fleas. The environment should be treated with a fogger or spray insecticide containing an insect growth regulator, such as pyriproxyfen or methoprene to kill eggs and pupae, which are quite resistant against insecticides. Frequent vacuuming is also helpful, but you must immediately dispose of the vacuum bag afterwards. Recent studies have shown that vacuuming may kill fleas almost as effectively as insecticides.[citation needed]

Diatomaceous earth can also be used as an effective home flea treatment in lieu of acetylcholinesterase inhibitory treatments or insecticides which carry with them a risk of poisoning for both humans and animals. Diatomaceous earth absorbs lipids from the cuticle, the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate and can be purchased at most gardening suppliers or online. It can then be evenly distributed around the house (especially in corners and near furniture) with any type of shaker (salt shaker, spice shaker, etc.) and then vacuumed away after about 7 days. Diatomaceous earth also has the added benefit of killing many other types of insects that might be residing in your house.

Dried pennyroyal has been suggested as a natural flea control[5], but is not recommended in homes with pets due to its high toxicity to mammals.

Borax is sold as a "Natural Laundry Booster" and can also be used as another home treatment for flea infestations. Borax contains boric acid which kills fleas by dehydrating them.

Also be sure to read the article on the toxicity of Borax, link provided below.

  6. hoover your carpets as often as you can. This will stop them breeding.if you see them pick them up between your finger and thumb and roll them this breaks their legs and they cant jump anymore.then kill them with your finger nail.its gross I know but it does get rid of them.
