  1. They usually come from an outside source, like open rubbish, even compost makers can attract a large number of fruit flies,I had a problem in the last house I was in & found it was a worm farm box from next door that was the source of the problem. You would be best of having good look at your neighbours yards as well as your own.Fly screens all around is the best solution or remove the source. Some bug spays are effective on fruit flies & others are not,I would suggest something stronger than a Pyrethrum based fly spay. In your case remove the plant material or fruit on plant. spay it with a specific spay to keep these pests at bay, your nursery man can advise on this.

  2. i remember my grandma cut some banana pieces up and put them in a bowl, then she put plastic wrap over the bowl with an elastic. she poked like 3 wholes in the plastic wrap with a pin. the fruit flies could get in but they couldn't get out. and it really worked!

  3. get rid of the current plants and buy new plants that don't attract fruit flies

  4. Put apple cider vinager in small bowels , set where ever you see the fruit flies . They will get in the vinager and die.

  5. You can set off any bug fogger before you leave the house, follow the step by step instructions, and you should be good to go. Make sure there is NO ONE in the house when you set them off. Especially babies and pets. Foggers can be purchased at Home Depot, Ace, Wal- Mart, etc.

  6. bug spray
