Whenever I turn on my computer and get to my desktop screen, I get multiple pop-up screens that I have to close everytime.

They look like pop-ups from programs I tried to download/install a longtime ago (that I never ended-up completely loading into my computer)..they are not pop-up screens form the internet...they keep popping up telling me the programs/files are missing on my computer (but they are not in my programs list to remove!--I use Windows XP)

Confused? LOL! Me too! How do I get rid of the them everytime I turn on my computer?

  1. It looks like these programs which you downloaded and installed got loaded up in your startup list. You must remove those programs from your Startup list to stop those errors from popping up.

    To remove them:

    >> Click on Start>Run> and then type in 'msconfig'. (without quotes)

    >> Go over to the Startup tab.

    >> There you'll see a list of the programs automatically starting up on Windows startup, drag the Command title a little to the right so that you can see the location of the file.

    >> Now just go through them, and if you find a file unnecessary or half installed on your computer, just uncheck it. This will stop it from starting at startup.

    >> In the end after you go through all the entries in the list, click on Apply and then OK.

    >> On next startup you might get a warning message, just tick that you don't wanna see it again and close it.

Hope this helps and your problem gets solved.

  2. Click on Start, go to Run, type in "msconfig" (without quote marks) and press Enter.  Go to the Startup tab, and uncheck the programs you don't want to load when you first start Windows.

  3. ok if those programs are not if the uninstall programs , you should updatses those programs or install the latest version of those programs by doing that it will automatically uninstall those programs after that you will have the complete programs then you can uninstall it.

  4. it sounds like whatever program that was installed loaded something at startup.  When the computer boots up, it tries to load all the startup programs, and it cant find the file its looking for, thus causing you to get the popup.  First, go to start>programs>startup and see if there is any programs in there that you do not have.  If so, delete them.  Second, open up control panel>add/remove programs.  See if the programs that didnt install correctly are listed there, if so, uninstall them,  Finally go to start>run, and type MSCONFIG.  Click on the startup tab , and see whats checked.  Once again see if there is anything there that you do not have.  Be careful though, if you do not know what a program is, google it and make sure its safe to uncheck.  If you uncheck something critical you can cause your computer not to boot.  Its fixable with a windows cd, but better to not have to yeah?

    Hope this helps.

  5. You may need to run Msconfig.

Start button, goto run, type: msconfig hit enter. select selective startup. goto startup tab.

Try to find what is causing the issues, you may be able to see that "old program" and uncheck the check box. It sounds like you may have a little problem doing this though, just due to experience. But I wouldn't frett too much if you deselect the wrong one your not going to permanently destroy something you can always go back and recheck it. Otherwise I would suggest getting a computer geek over there... Also I would not just off handily say these thing are not from the internet.... they very well could be. Windows Explorer, and Internet Explorer are just about the same thing.. You can email me if ya need more info..
