  1. You need to:

    1) remove and dispose of all currently infested material, you can usually see the larvae.

    2) There will probably still be eggs in some of your other food items.  Put all items that are not in a sealed metal or glass container in air tight plastic containers, or glass jars with s***w down tops.  If you see any moths or larvae appear in a container, dispose of all items in the container.

When you bring home flour, or any other type of grain meal, put it in the freezer for a few days.  This will usually kill any eggs present.

  2. what you have are probably Indian Meal moths, remove all invested materials they can even be under food can labels. The insects were brought in by a contaminated product .the eggs can be laid in the tiniest of cracks so a good cleaning may even miss a few.Place and store most grain and dried food products in plastic containers or refrigerate what you have room for.You need a pheromone trap to capture the flying adults the larvae are not attracted to the traps.Try to check packaging for webs when buying and look at clear packages if insects inside.Look for pupae casings along the ceiling of the kitchen and in the cupboards.good luck big nickel exterminator 26 yrs

  3. Tough job. You need a multi-pronged approach.

    1) Freezing kills them. You might not want the extra protein in your oatmeal, even if they are dead, but the birds don't care.

    2) Keep grains and things made from grains in sealed containers as much as possible.

    3) If you know where the moths came from (Ours came in in dry dog food), return the container to the store and buy elsewhere for awhile.

    4) You can buy traps for the little monsters. We got ours at a rural farmers' market.

    5) Cleaning out the cabinets won't hurt.

  4. remove the infested material . And then clean out the cabinet that you store them in thoroughly with whatever cleaning agent  is appropriate to the surface of the cabinet  Then when you buy those products  use them as quickly as possible and dont buy to much ahead  There are a certain amount of eggs that are in grain materials when you buy them and given the right time and temperature they will hatch some people also refrigerate them if they have the space  You must remove all of the infested material this is very important  JOE  pest control guy  13 yrs
