  1. you can run a dehumidifier that will draw out most of the moisture. also, bring in fresh air with a fan to evaporate moisture, use another fan to blow your stale in-house  air outside. remember to keep an eye on the moisture collected in your dehumidifier, empty as needed, and wrinse out with a little bleach water. to avoid mold build up.

  2. I agree with all of those that said get a dehumidifier.  You can also leave a light bulb ON in basement or crawl space areas.  The slight amount of heat from the bulb helps keep humidity low.

  3. Buy a dehumidifier, or if it's summer, use the air conditioner (which is also a dehumidifier) if you have one. Since an AC often needs to be turned off, using a dehumidifier during the AC's downtime is a good idea (Don't use both at the same time to conserve energy).

The dehumidification process needs to be ongoing for 24 hours intermittently every day until the excess moisture is gone. It could take weeks, depending on conditions. Then you must decide if the dry conditions can be maintained simply by opening windows, etc. If you live in a damp climate, or during periods of high humidity, the dehumidifier might be a necessary evil every day.

Additionally, you might unclutter the place, if applicable. Discard whatever you can, and store everything in breathable containers (cardboard, fabric, etc), away from living and breathing areas if possible.

In the final analysis, a dehumidifier will probably be needed at least occasionally, after the initial drying out.

  4. A dehumifier. The disadvantage is that it uses electric power

and costs money to run and has to be emptied or drained to

outside. It should stop when it is full. Once mine didn't and wet

the floor. Talk about the cure being worse than the desease.

But you should try and find out what is causing the problem

    and maybe tackle the cause.

Basically the method of approach is insulation, ventilation to

    eliminate condensation.

Damp rising up from the ground through the walls need to be

stopped by a damp proof course inserted in the wall. There is another method of using electrical potential differences

    between ground and wall.

If the moisture is coming in from the roof you need to repair the roof - urgently.

  5. Buy a dehumidifier before it gets moldy.

open windows if the humidity is low and the temp. is comfortable for you

  6. dehumidifiers work wonders.  Do you have a central a/c system?  That helps, too

  7. buy a dehumidifier.
