How do I get rid of my migraine quickly?

Any help would be appreciated because this headache is driving me crazy!

i wish i knew of a way to quickly get rid of a migraine, My friend says you can go to the emergency room and they can give you a shot that will make it go away. but somehow paying $500 to go to the emergency room for a headache doesn't seem justified to me.

I usually take some Excedrin migraine take a warm shower, and go to bed. then it will usually at least be a manageable headache in the morning.  If i don't do this, my migraines can sometimes last a week at a time.

this works for me, and within 20 minutes or so. Take a couple of advil or ibuprofen, put an ice pack on the back of your neck, lie down in a cool dark place and try to sleep,or at least, just rest and wait it out.  Hope it works for you, too.

If you are sure that it's a migraine, this should help. However, if you have low blood pressure, just put an ice pack on your head.

This is what you do:

Put about 6 or 8 inches of water that is as hot as you can comfortably stand it, in the bathtub or something else you can fit your feet into.

Sit on the side of the tub, feet in the water, with an ice pack on your head. Stay like this for 15 minutes or so and get up carefully (see below). Dry off your feet and put on a pair of socks. Lay down and continue to apply ice to your head or the back of your neck.

Why it works:

Migraines are caused by blood vessels that first contract, then dilate. That's when the pain starts. So the cold makes the vessels in your head constrict and the heat pulls a lot of blood to your feet. You have to be careful when you first stand up after your feet have been in the tub, as so much of your blood volume is in your legs, not in your head and you can faint. Even if you can't do the feet-in-the-water thing, put on socks and apply ice to your head or back of the neck.

In addition to the above, you can take 2 tylenol and 2 ibuprophen with a cup of coffee.
