I wash my face before i go to bed everynight and when I wake up....... then by the time the afternoon rolls around...... goodness gracious, my face looks like someone rubbed oil all over it........ !! AND I have these little white head pimples coming out here and there, EVERYDAY. Its not like I'm going through the teenage/skin thing....... I'm over 30 years of age!! Any advice...anyone?

  1. I used to do exactly the same thing, and have the same problem. The problem is you're washing your face too often, and its drying it out. Like hair, if you wash it too often then the oil glands produce more oil to compensate. Only wash it once a day, probably at night. Use warm water and moisturising (water based!) soap, nothing with salycilic acid (spot fighting chemical) or anything too harsh. You might want to use a water based moisturiser as well. The idea is that if you keep your skin hydrated then it will produce less oil because it doesn't need to. I use a moisturiser that 'prevents blemishes' from one of the anti-acne ranges, I think its clean and clear? Hope this helps x*x

  2. Well I'm 19 so have just about finished with the 'teenage skin' thing lol. I found that my skin was like yours, really oily by midday and didn't get loads of spots but when I did they were really obvious.

Could be caused by hormone changes - if you are/have been pregnant, on the pill, other medication etc.

People will tell you to drink plenty of water. I tried drinking nothing but water for a couple of weeks. I hate the taste and there was no difference in my skin whatsoever! As long as you drink plenty juice etc you get all the water you need anyway.

If you have a fringe, the oil from your hair can make your face greasier. Also if you don't wash your hair everyday (I refuse to, I don't have enough time!) the same thing can happen/

Most of all, I found once I stopped using clearasil, soaps, foundation to cover it up and everything else, my skin got so much better! I think these products are just so artificial they can damage delicate skin like the face. I use perfume & colour-free make-up removing wipes every night and warm water to open up my pores every morning. Also cut back on the make-up. My skin isn't perfect but it's a lot better.

Good luck - I know how annoying this is!

  3. I dont know if this is really advice but if you go in the ladies restroom the toilet seat paper covers are made out of the same stuff as the oil blotting sheets. So you can blot your face with a piece of that. Maybe you should go see your dermatologist.
