  1. Try deleting it directly on program files directory...

and if you have a registry mechanic or the same... do run it... it would fix all your registry problems in your computer...

  2. Did you install Java? I think you did. Cause in Java's new updated version "Sun" Encourages you (people) to download Open Office.org FROM Their web. So, they put an OpenOffice.Org Icon in your desktop and all your .doc, .rtf etc. file(s) adopted the OpenOffice.Org Icon. So, if you don't wanna use Open Office just delete the icon from desktop. Then go to the Control Panel then open Default Programs and chose "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" and will know what you have to do next( This is for Windows Vista. I think in Win XP it's in the Folder option Section and a tab fob for file types. not sure i forgot.)

But you can do it easy way. Right click on a .doc file and Go to Properties. In the General Tab chose Change button. The you can change which program you want to open your .doc file. You can select Microsoft Office if you want. But you have to do this for every type of file (Just for one). Like one for .doc, one for .rtf etc.

You can see this in this folder "C:\Program Files\Sun\OpenOffice.org Installer 1.0". There is a file. IF you click on this you'll see this web will pop up...http://www.java.com/en/download/openoffi... You Can delete this folder if you want. No harn cause to you.

There is another way. It's called wiping the Registry editor. Go to "Start" menu then "Run..." then Type "regedit" then press Ctrl+F ( Or "Find" from the "Edit" menu). Type "OpenOffice.org" on the box then Delete every value that OOO have. or just manually got this folder (Sun Microsystem) by the location below "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sun Microsystems"  and Delete the "Sun Microsystem" folder. Then it's done. But this will not change the OOO opening option. It's little risky and if your new to PC Don't do it.

Second para is good for you .

  4. Are you sure that you haven't deleted the files already? You should go withh unistalling with add/remove.. in the first place. if you can not find it there, try the programs flder in program files.. See if has anything for uninstall.. Or get a small freeware Revo Uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com/

It'll search your system fro broken or incomplete installations, leftover files & registries etc.. It has other functions that you'll surely like..
