you could use bleach, but what work better is pulling the poison ivy up by its roots, take it somewhere, burn that.

then, there is a hole in the ground because you pulled up the poison ivy, put salt in that, table salt. that burns the roots. then it cant grow back. =]

Ummm, yeah. Use ROUND UP. It will kill everything green and is practically harmless to animals and humans. check this out :

Roundup kills weeds, but it also kills everything else (i.e. grass).  If you have grass to spare, great.  Otherwise I'd look for a weed product that is specifically designed for only weeds or broadleaf plants.  That way it won't hurt your grass.  A common one is "2, 4-D."

Wear heavy gardening gloves and cover all of your body and pull them out. I'm sure to prevent more growing you can buy a killer spray in a garden or planting store.

put bleach on the bottom of the posion ivy. like the root. it might kill it.
