  1. There's an old saying  that goes, "If you have to get up and speak (or perform) in front of a large crowd, picture them all in their underwear."

That exercise is meant to make you feel as though you have the upper hand.  Some people never are able to conquer stage fright.  Just remember that you are a good enough singer to be chosen to do this. You can do it!

With most people in similar situations they are incredibly nervous right up to the point when they begin to sing (or speak or play or perform) and then suddenly they are fine. You may have heard that many times. Believe it.  You will be fine.  You can also just pretend you are only rehearsing and  that there is nobody out there in the audience, just an empty room. Let the music take you and remember why you love it and the audience will become secondary..

  2. Get high 8D (that may affect your performance though ^_^')

  3. Remember that everyone has some degree of stage fright. Make sure that you prepare really well by singing the song over and over. That way, even if you can’t concentrate on what you are doing, you will be on an autopilot and will be able to get through the song.

Get into the emotions of the song and have a strong emotional connection with the song that you sing.  Think about what the lyrics mean to you and pretend that you are the person in the song. You will not only be able to communicate your feelings to the audience but will have less time to think about how nervous you are.

Between now and Wednesday, practice singing in front of an audience.  It could be done with one person (your mom for example) or 5 people and you don’t even have to have your band with you.

Think positively. Envision yourself singing and having a great time.  Picture how everybody is getting into your music and dancing and singing.  Hear the people applaud and whistle.

Have a back up plan with the band that if you have to drop out in the middle of a song, someone will pick up and finish the song.  Simulate the situation in your rehearsals so that everyone knows what to do.

Lastly, no matter what you do, don’t get drunk or use drugs to cope the experience.   It may help you get through the performance, but you will know that you did not try your best and have learned nothing from the experience. If you are planning to perform regularly, you don’t want to start your career that way.  Remember, it only gets easier and easier as you gain more experience.  Best of luck to you.

  4. The best way to get rid of stage fright is that you don't notice the crowd in front of you. Just imagine singing to yourself and everything will be best.

In case the noise disturbs you, then imagine the audience to be full of your close friends, family. This might help in getting rid of that fear...Don't hesistate. Be confident in whatever you do. Even if you make a mistake, no problem...

  5. start with a small crowd then gradually move up to a really big crowd

  6. i'm a performing violinist and often have to deal with the issue of stagefright. however funny this sounds i actually find that the best thing to do is to tell yourself that you inevitably will go wrong, as in that you will make mistakes. i find this lets most of the tension go, and it doesn't demotivate me. this technique is good because when i am performing and have made a slight slip i immediately think: well thats my inevitable mistake over and done with now, and usually the rest of the performance is flawless.

also remember that because you are going to be with a band and not just by yourself like i usually am, sure most of the attention is going to be on you but definitely not as much as you think.

to make your audience less wary of you, make sure that you look confident and set the mood before that, like telling a joke whilst you are introducing your band.

good luck and i'm sure you will do just fine

  7. good luck and have fun

get a great fun environment going backstage with the band, and just continue that joy and happiness when you get out there under the lights.

next practice with the band, ask if you can set up some chairs with coats and hats there as your first audience, so Wednesday will be your 2nd concert

(Don't be suprised if a few other guys from the band feel the same as you do)

  8. just relax and have fun with it......imagine everyone in their underwear :)

  9. no dont drink just think, they want you up there and nothing will go wrong

  10. thanks for making clear that you didn't write that song...

I've got stage fright as well. I always try to avoid anything that makes me feel that way, but I find that always after a few drinks I am a bit more confident. Don't actually get drunk, just a little "happy".

  11. four straight shots of whiskey

  12. Consider this:

The more scared you are, the more likely you are to mess up.

Oh another way to deal with stage fright:

    Imagine everyone naked.

  13. Stage Fright is pretty common if you are preforming for a big crowd or singing or if you are doing anything in front of a crowd. To resolve it try imaging the audience in their underwear or practice whatever you are doing in front of your friends or family and slowly make the crowd that you are practicing for larger. That way you can preform in front of a large audience.

  14. It is normal to have those feelings.  You will probably feel it even more once you are there and ready to go.  The trick between a good performer and a bad one is not letting all that adrenaline take control over you.

Breathing exercises will help you and reassurance will help too.  Try to tell yourself that you are going to rock and that you can do it.  And try to channel all that adrenaline pumping through your body into energy.  Good luck with everything sweetie.

  15. Don't worry too much. Just make sure you have a lot of energy. I can't tell you how many bands haven't even been that great, but if the crowd feels something while the band is on stage, you've done your job.

Make 100% sure you have the song down and just be confidant in your abilities. The more practice you have the less scared you'll be. However, since it's your first show, it's definitely natural to be a littlenervous.
