How do I get rid of the bad water smell??

I laundried some clothes and hung them out to dry. When I came back to take them inside (after a several hrs under the sun), some were still wet. I separated those and let them dry inside since it was night. The next day, I was going to fold all the laundry away when I realized that the clothes began to smell like when wet clothes smell if left for too long.

Now, how do I get rid of the nasty smell?? Laundrying them in normal detergent again is not cutting it. Please help.

  1. Was it sunny outside when you hung them out to dry?  Cause they only really dry well in NON-moist environment, otherwise you get good ol' mold.  You'll have to wash them with color-safe bleach to kill the bacteria.  Hopefully that does it.  You might have to throw them out if it doesn't.

  2. rewash them and airdry them unit;l they are completely dry  this time or use a dryer, if the smell is still there theyre probs mouldy

  3. The best way to fix smelly laundry is to add  1/2 cup white vinegar to your rinse cycle.  Add up to 1 cup for extra stinky clothes!

    Good luck!!

  4. if you wash them in oxyclean and or baking soda it should work you could also  boil them to kill the mold and then launder them you might have to wash them 2 or 3 times to get it out

  5. most people dont believe this but bleach is good for colors as well start you washer with out any clothes in it put 1/2 cup bleach and your detergent  wait till it is full! then add your clothes for a Normal cycle. that should do it

  6. Soak in baking soda for a half hour then wash as you normally do. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer.

  7. Use a fabric softener with your wash cycle.

  8. wash them in a washing machine a few times if needed

  9. try getting some fabreeze and spraying on the clothes and putting them outside to dry again or taking them to the laundro mat and putting them in the dryer with the fabreeze on them and letting them dry in the heat, which will kill the smell caused by mildew you cant see. once the mildew spores die the clothes will smell good again.
