  1. Hi Ins

What you need to use is a piece of foam over the microphone. Not a thick one but at least 1/4" in thickness. This will eliminate the pops and breathing noise as well as soften the 'S".

We use a screen and you may have noticed this often when you see videos and their is a round screen in front of the mike. The metalpop filter is not that good and you tend to get shocks on them. It has to be a plastic or a piece of foam that covers the mike which is the best.

We use this on windy days just like reporters do.

  2. It honestly depends on the mic,but i'd suggest buying a pop filter. All it is is like something you clip in front of the microphone to get rid of excess noise, and cancel out the "P" in your pop and the "S" in your "smooooth". You can get them at your local sam ash/guitar center/local music store, and they run 15-20 bucks. Or i suggest you get a new mic!haha good luck.
