How do I get rid of the smell in my ice maker?

My ice maker is removable for cleaning. The smell is from freezer burn.

  1. dump all the ice, then mix about 1/2 cup bleach and 3 teaspoons of baking soda and clean everything associated with the ice maker.  Allow it to make some ice, then dump that.  You can also use white vinegar.  You may also look and see if your fridge has a filtration system.  Change the filter.  They are expensive but it's part of the maintenance. .


  2. grab a couple pieces of charcoal and stick them in your freezer, it absorbs smells like nothing else!

  4. rob lou has it right except I would omit the bleach. that is awful strong and could linger and make the ice taste worse.
