How do I get rid of the smoke smell from my house? Not cigarette smoke, wood heater accident?

Ok, We have a wood heater and the other night the door came open.

The wood we bought was still abit damp and causes alot of smoke. So when the door came open it filled the house with smoke. As the smoke alarm didnt go off (it is stupid as it goes off when you burn toast!!!) we didnt wake to the smell.

Now everything smells like bonfire. How do I get rid of that smell?

Spray Febreeze around the home and lay out some dryer sheets to absorb the odor. It's worked for me

in the  middel east we us somthing called bookhor u  u put u burn it then it has a wonderfull smell people say its the best smell in the world you can buy this at any arab country it must be in amarica somwhere???

if you really want to get rid of the smoke, your house should be well ventilated... it sucks the smoke out of your house.... for the smell, try to use air purifier or air filter....

Use an orange-oil based deoderizer. Also mix some of this deoderizer in warm water and start wiping down your walls, floor etc., basically everything that is ok to get wet needs to be wiped off. The only way to completely get rid of the smoke smell is to clean all of the residue off the surfaces.

Try opening some cans of coffee and sitting them around. I know coffee helps in a car with smoke smell. Good luck.

I've used ammonia in small dishes around the house to clean the air. (overnight)  I've put some under the bed, under or in furniture that smells musty or in the basement, and in a cold fireplace.  (careful of pets and little ones!)  I agree that everything needs to be cleaned first, but this is a good tip.  Many years ago this was done with a cut, raw onion, left to dry out........        The ammonia almost smells good thinking of that.  :))
