How do I get rid of these FRUIT FLIES OF DOOM?!?!?!?

Seriously, we have had these fruit flies for almost 2 months. I've tried going a month without having any fruit or potatoes, no dice. I've tried keeping the fruit in the fridge - and they GET IN THE FRIDGE. I made a funnel trap, and everywhere you read it says they'll drown in the water immediately or they'll get trapped and then drown overnight, and they lived for SIX days before I just covered the top and filled it with water hoping that would kill some of them. There were a few that I watched fly into the trap, sit on the floating banana slice, and then fly back out again. The hole was smaller than a dime. Now we have BIGGER fruit flies.... like they're evolving or something... and they pop up everywhere!! I open a cupboard and they fly off the bottom. How do they get there?? Are we supposed to fast without fruit and sweet veggies for months until they all die off??? Help help help!!! How do I kill these fruit flies?! My son is two! He needs vegetables and fruits!!! Lol

This is so gross  to clean up, but you should get some flypaper. They just fly onto it and get stuck. It's somehow managed to get them all in my house. You can buy it pretty much anywhere.

Another option, if you want the same concept, but neater, would be these tubes with a sticky bug-attracting cover. You just hang them from the ceiling and they do the same job as the paper, but it's much easier to put up and clear away. I've seen them for a dollar at the Christmas Tree Shop.

You were actually on to something with the funnel trap, but I'd recommend, rather than water and something they can float on, putting a little wine in the trap (I'm sure you know to keep this idea out of your son's reach.), or some juice cut with a little liquor.  They'll smell (or whatever they do) the sugary liquid, but they'll be too drunk (or the alcohol will just poison them instantly) to come back out.
