Gah!

Gnats are flying around everywhere!

I've tried Vinegar and Soup, Vinegar, and Fly Traps, but nothing helps :(

  1. Gnats hate Citrus (orange, lemon, limes) get some essential citrus oil and burn it in an oil burner, or you can buy a large citrus candle specially produced to ward off the annoying little buggers, you can also dad some on your clothing and behind your ears to stop them biting.

  2. there are four stages to the gnat life cycle...you are only addressing the adult stage, you are fighting them after the fact

first you need what type of gnat or fly they are so you can know where they are coming from. You need to address the source which may include using a type of pesticide to just sanitation.   If they are fungus gnats they will be most likely in wet soil of potted plants or may be in the muck of the drains...some gnats will be feeding off of rotting vegetables (potatoes / onions)  Fruit flies will be on over ripe / rotting fruits.

  3. get some off fly spray that will do it

  4. I use  vinegar. It works great.  Fill a small glass half full and put a piece of saran wrap tightly over the top.  Then poke small holes in it and the gnats will go in the holes and down to the vinegar and drown or not get out.  They can't find their way IF the holes are not to big.

    Good luck

  5. Pour half a glass of red wine and place it on a flat, level surface wherever the gnats are congregating. Make sure there are no other food sources for them around. Then just leave it several hours to overnight. They will be attracted to it and drown.
