How do I get rid of this? Is it a virus?

I turned on my computer and cursor has become a white hand. When something is loading it turns into a drum that beats and when something is taking an especially long time to load, it becomes a metronome. The recycle bin icon on my desktop has become a treasure chest and when i restore a window it makes a water sound and when i minimize a window it makes a "UH!" sound. When i click on other things or right click on things, it makes a little poppy sound.

  1. It's probably from one of those "GET FREE CURSORS" advertisements. Yes, it's probably either a virus or spy/mal/ad-ware. You can change your cursors in your control panel, and see if that helps. (Control Panel>>Mouse) But since you didn't change it in the first place, a subvert program probably did so without your permission. Try Norton or McAfee, but if you don't want antivirus programs eating up half your RAM, Microsoft's OneCare should do the trick.

You can try changing the "theme" of your computer too, to remove the sounds... if you know what I'm talking about.

  2. lol... "UH!" sound....

It could be your theme settings... Right click your desktop, select Properties, and then themes. Select another theme and click apply. See if it still happening...
