I just started getting a blue screen error on my computer two days ago that say it is being caused by a certain file called "nv4_disp." I wanted to know if deleting this file (which is a dll i think) can fix my computer and remember my computer can cut off in any moment because of this so any good answers are appreciated.

  1. do a repair install go to the following link http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

don't play around with those files they'll mess you up!!!!

Slow computer? fix it at www.geocities.com/cameronnet2000

  2. deleting a dynamic link library (.dll) file will cause something (a program) not to work properly.  nv4_disp - not sure what that is ... a video card file maybe? But I could be way off since the names of those files wont make sense to the people that didn't write the program.  If you delete it and all of a sudden your video is messed up you'll know that's what it was from.  nvidia video card display ...

  3. upgrading the drivers for the graphic card should help as that dll is an Nvidia Driver

If you are using Wired lan internet boot up in safemode with networking download the newer drivers, uninstall the graphic card and install the new drivers

VGA mode on bootup may work also

If it is still a problem the graphic card may be on its way out

  4. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
