  1. Okay You have fallen victim to the Smitfraud Virus and the Blaster Worm. Together they are one of the most stubborn to get rid of. However, I have developed a method that is about 90% effective at removing this fake antivirus VIRUS.

    WHAT YOU NEED

    ComTools (http://www.comstar-computers.com/tools/c...

    AVG Anti Spyware (http://www.grisoft.com)

ATF Cleaner by Attribune Software (http://www.comstar-computers.com/downloa... )

    SmitfraudFix (http://downloads.comstar-computers.com/A... )

Now install the AVG AntiSpyware and allow it to update it. But do not run it yet.

Now copy the Smitfraud and the ATF Cleaner to the root folder (just inside the Local Disk C:) COPY, don't MOVE.

    Click START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM RESTORE

    Click SYSTEM RESTORE SETTINGS.

Turn off System Restore for the time being.

Now reboot your computer into Save mode (pressing F8 just before you see the very first Windows XP black screen with the little progress band.)

    Run the ATF Cleaner.

    Click SELECT ALL

    Click Clean Selected

Next, run AVG Anti Spyware... after it's finnished, under the list of found threats you will see an option that has the course of action to be taken. regardless of whatever it's set to, click it and change it to Delete all threats.

    Next, Run the SmitFraudFix.

    Select Option 2

Say Yes when you are prompted to clean the registry.

Access add.remove programs from the control panel. Uninstall anything that reads Video ActiveX Controller or Driver.

    Rerun the ATF Cleaner

    TO RECOVER THE TASKMANAGER

Now unzip ComTools.zip and run the ComTools program.

    Select 5-Malware Tools

    Select 6-Recover Task Manager

It will ask you if you want to reboot, say YES

Reboot as normal. Now if your desktop wallpaper has been hijacked, you may notice that you can not change it, Here's how to fix that.

    1. Open a CMD.EXE Window.

    2. Type the following command and press Enter:

    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current... /V ClassicShell /T REG_DWORD  /F /D 0

    3. Type Exit.

    4. Try to access the Display Properties (right clicking on t he desktop and selecting properties) Is the Appearance  tab there now? If so, change your wall paper.

  2. Vista Antivirus 2008 is a new version of rogue anti-spyware program that simulates malware detections on your computer, generating false alerts to try to trick you into buying the “full version” of this dangerous program. Vista Antivirus 2008 is a new clone of well known XP Antivirus malware. Vista Antivirus 2008 can download and install other adware and spyware, without your consent. Vista Antivirus 2008 program can be very difficult to remove manually, and will try to recreate itself.
