Question:

How do I get rid of wasps

I thought the little buggers were nesting in a bush against my house. So I bought the 20 ft spray bottle. However, there's no visible nest. Also, they are swarming the plant and I noticed that leaves are infested with a parasite. I think that the wasps are eating the parasites for the sugar.

Ordinarily, I'd leave the little buggers alone. However, we are having a party this Sunday. If I sprayed Malathion on the entire plant, would that drive off the wasps? It would kill the parasite and perhaps then the wasps would leave? Anyone else had this situation? Help!!

  1. Not all wasps build nests in trees some build nest in the ground so look down on the ground for a hole instead of up in a tree. When I spray for wasps I usually do it in the even that way they will be in the nest instead of flying around so I can get all of them at one time. 2. instead of malathion you might try one of the pyrethroid class insecticides that are common at the home depot type stores, they have a repelling trait and you probably would treat the day before the party

  3. zap them with special wasp spray.  better yet, find the nest and destroy it.  wrap the whole thing tightly in a plastic bag and spray insecticide inside.  do this very carefully - they are easily upset when being decimated.
