Question:

How do I get rust off of metal without damaging the metal? I don't want to use steel wool.?

I left a great stand-up ashtray out on the balcony to get rained on and such and now its all rusty. Someone told me to use a light steel wool, but I'm afraid to. Any home remedys?

  1. In your hardware store they sell a rust remover that comes in a jell form. It's made for taking off rust from tools, hand saws and chainsaws and anything metal that has rust on it.


  2. Take a brillo pad squeeze the cleaning soluton thats on the brillo pad onto a damp warm rag and then wipe the rust off if that doest work spray some WD40 it is made to fight rust Good Luck

  3. Use a brass brush. It will remove the rust and not harm the remaining iron.

    You will need to refinish the item.
