Question:

How do I get sand out of my cat's fur?

He was rolling around outside. I tried using a flea comb and his regular brush but that didn't work. He'll never let me wash him so that's out of the question. Should I just leave it?

  1. Hose pipe always works on my cat. :D

  2. Just leave it,   he will get it out himself.  Why have you not desensitized him to water already though?  One of my cats loves a bath and the other just doesn't care.  Try bathing the cat once a week to get him used to water. That way, when he does get extra dirty, you won't have to battle it out to get him clean.

  3. well they do like to roll around in the sand. it helps their coat. i wouldnt worry about it. maybe buy a better brush or something. if its a long haired cat it will be hard to get out but if its a short hair cat (which mine is) it comes right off. i just like to pet mine :) we both like it better that way lol

  4. Ok, I have no idea if this will work with a cat but it totally worked for a class load of toddlers who played in a sandbox all the time!  We'd just flip them over, kindly of course, rub our fingers through their hair quickly and the sand just pretty much fell right out.  No worries though, if you cant get it out kitty will.  :)

  5. Use a towel and rub him down. Either that or let him take care of it himself. It'll go away.

  6. get a towel and wipe him down, or just try and brush it all out.

  7. ummm

    give it a bath

    duh

  8. Most cats enjoy what my grandmother called a "dust bath".  I have no idea why cats do this, but they really do seem to love it.  Usually, the "dust or sand" works itself out and is not a problem.

    Good Luck!

  9. I take a small towel and wet it then ring it out and wipe the cat down.  The cat won't like it but it works.

Cats roll around in the dirt ... it's like putting talcum powder on us.  soothes their skin.

Some time I just PAT the cat all over to remove most of the surface dirt.

    good luck.

  10. just brush him off as best as you can, he'll be alright.

  11. after awhile it will come off by itself

  12. Squirt it with the hose

  13. go to your local chemist/pharmacy and buy a nit comb that we all have seen and give the cat a brush down with that  should work i done this with my cat and he loves the comb down

  14. Use your hair blow drier, and brush at the same time just make sure it's on cool.

  15. Just leave it.  He will clean it up.  You could dampen a washcloth with warm water and rub it all over him.  My cat loves that.  It is how I give her a bath.  Don't get the washcloth too wet, just damp.  He might like it.

  16. Towel him off; it will more than likely come off on its own.

  17. I don't know how long your cat will stand still, but try using a vacuum cleaner with a soft attachment on the end. Other than that, you should probably just leave him alone. He will clean himself pretty soon, just make sure you don't let him in the house!

  18. bath time

  19. If you cannot get it, I say bare the pain (unless it's declawed) and wash him.  Otherwise, it shouldn't hurt the cat to have sand in it's fur.

  20. Uh give it a bath,It doesn't matter what the cat wants

  21. depending on your cats temperment.  Mine wont even let me brush her. Maybe try just rubbing her really good with a wet towel or dampen your brush, or even leave it and let her clean it herslef :)

  22. My cat does the same thing and she absolutely will not bathe! Try pet wipes or baby wipes.  Most likely he wont like that all that much either but its way easier and pretty effective at getting them clean

  23. Take him to the car wash and use the pressure sprayer.
