How do I get social security benefits with new husband?

I am 67-divorced-receiving benefits from my divorced husbands work record.I am getting married and have been told at SS that I will lose my benefits for one year...My new husband will start collecting in Nov.

your benefits are based on their lifetime income or ss credits, who made more money?  your divorced husband or the new one, also if you worked in your lifetime and if the one year wait holds true, can you draw off of your own work record in the meantime?

If you were told this by SS, that's the best answer you are going to get.

If you want to have a life with a new husband, you will have to completely let go of the old one.

But review your divorce decree with a lawyer to see whether you have any options.
