How do I get solar power?

I want to get it for my house.

You need muliple solar pannels. The have things called photovoltaic cells in them. Photons from the sun excite the electrons and along a cooper wire the electricy flows. I have to warn you solar panels can be expensive in large amounts. Good Luck (with that bill).

Solar power systems are mostly sold by small independent businesses.  There are many local factors to consider.  Here's one in Northern CA.

If you have a hard time finding one (Yellow Pages?) you might call a government environmental office, or even your power company and ask if they know of any in your area.

Is your house all electric?

How many KWH (kilowatt hours) do you use per month?

Why do you want to go solar?  

Do you want to be totally off the power grid?

How much money do you want to spend?

Are you handy with tools/home projects?

There are plenty of companies that can setup a system for you in most parts of the world.  Solar is expensive, but it's something you can do a little bit at a time or all at once.  You can start out small and add panels/additional inverters/batteries later, or you can spend major $$$ and buy it all at once.

You house gets solar power every day (unless it is within the artic or antartic circles).

Fit a concervatory or Trombe wall to the side facing the sun (ie south in the northern hemisphere) for space heating;

or fit light tubes to duct the light power to dark corners;

or plant trees to convert sunlight into bio-mass/logs;

there are also various forms of solar thermal pannels which heat water or Photovoltaic pannels for electric
